FRIDAY: OLE MISS 5, NORTHWESTERN STATE 0
The Rebels continued to take advantage of solid ball movement and an aggressive offense as three players notched goals and Ole Miss (3-0) defeated Northwestern State (0-3) by a score of 5-0 on Friday night.
“We moved the ball really well early on, and Rafa was able to create an early goal off the penalty kick,” said Ole Miss head coach Matthew Mott. “We were able to move the ball all night long, play quickly and move the ball around. Mandy got in on the action with two great goals and Bethany (Bunker) had a great goal to start the second half and put things out of reach.”
SUNDAY: OLE MISS 2, SAINT LOUIS 0
ST. LOUIS – Mandy McCalla and Addie Forbus both notched goals on the night as Ole Miss (4-0) posted its second shutout of the weekend with a 2-0 win at Saint Louis on Sunday.
“It was a very physical match again on a Sunday,” said Ole Miss head coach Matthew Mott. “Saint Louis really gave us everything we wanted in the first half. I think we started to take over more in the second half. Their goalkeeper played fantastic and had several excellent saves. I think they will do well.”
The Rebels will continue to play on the road next weekend with a pair of matches at the Minnesota Gold Classic in Minneapolis, where Ole Miss will face Southern California and Minnesota.
