The Daily Mississippian was told the university’s appeal of the recent NCAA Committee on Infractions decision should be made available to the public on the school’s website sometime today, according to the university’s Office of General Counsel.
This appeal was filed last Monday after the university filed its intent to appeal back in December.

The major cause for the appeal was the 2018 postseason ban. This ban was in addition to the 2017 bowl ban the university self-imposed. Both Chancellor Jeffrey Vitter and Athletics Director Ross Bjork said in the press conference on Dec. 1 when the ruling was announced that the NCAA’s additional postseason ban was excessive and did not account for the actions the university took to address the issues.
The university also appealed certain recruiting limitations and the lack of institutional control charge.
The university was not backing down to the NCAA, building a large team of lawyers. They hired Mississippi-based law firm Butler Snow to add to the existing legal team of LIghtfoot, Franklin & White and Bond, Schoeneck & King for the appeal and other legal services. A representative from Barrett Law Group also joined the university’s legal team.
The Daily Mississippian filed a Freedom of Information Act request for a copy of the appeal last Tuesday.
