The University Police Department is investigating a report of attempted armed robbery that happened on campus Nov. 13 at approximately 6:40 p.m.
Three masked individuals, one of whom pointed a gun at the victim, approached the victim between Ridge North and Minor Halls, according to an email sent by the university to all students. The suspects demanded to know the contents of the victim’s pockets, but they ran from the scene in the direction of Howry Hall when they saw a vehicle approach, according to the email.
“Nobody was robbed, and nobody was hurt,” UPD Chief Calvin Sellers said.
UPD received a report of the incident at 8:45 p.m., according to the email, which was sent to all students at 10:45 p.m.
“We haven’t identified any suspects at this time,” Sellers said. “We’re still investigating, and we’re still trying to locate witnesses.”
The email described the suspects as three, white, college-aged males approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall. At the time of the incident, they wore black masks and brown work boots. One wore a camouflage hooded sweatshirt, and the other two wore black hooded sweatshirts. The email described the gun as a .380 pistol with a silver slide and black grip.
