With Jarvis Summers’ efficiency on the pick-and-roll and Marshall Henderson’s ability to drain threes coming off of screens, Ole Miss has two of the better scorers in the SEC.
“We need Marshall and Jarvis to play like all-league players,” head coach Andy Kennedy said.
And Kennedy has done a great job of designing plays based on his top two scorers’ strengths.

Summers has run the second most pick-and-rolls in the SEC, and Ole Miss’ top play remains the baseline screens for Henderson.
“He’s the best I’ve ever seen at coming off a screen and turning into a shot,” Kennedy said.
But now, Kennedy has combined those two strengths into a simple play, where both players come off of double screens.
Summers has the ball with both big men preparing to give him a ball screen. Meanwhile, Henderson is finding his way to the far corner.
Summers is going to use the ball screens, and due to his efficiency on the pick-and-roll, Tennessee sends Jerrone Maymon to cut off the lane, as Summers’ original defender fights through the screen.
Now, both Dwight Coleby and Sebastian Saiz are going down to set stagger screens for Henderson to pop open for three. Summers – seeing the lane cut off – flips the ball back to Henderson, who gets a decent look at a three.
Another possibility on this play is for Henderson to pass it over the top to Coleby cutting to the vacant lane under the basket.
Now Jordan Mcrae is defending Henderson, and he does a tremendous job of chasing Henderson through the screens. His contest forces this three to miss.
What happens if a team doesn’t cut off the lane for Summers as well as Tennessee did? Well, Summers is likely to make them pay, like he did to South Carolina.
The Gamecocks are going to switch the screens, which means one of the post players is going to be guarding Summers.
He makes them pay with a jumper.

open lane for Summers to drive.
