HERE’S WHAT YOU SAID: The Trae Elston suspension

We placed a poll on theDMonline.com, asking "Is the the Trae Elston suspension fair?"

By Friday night, Sept. 14, 221 people voted. Here are the results:

Yes – 10 percent (21 votes)

No – 87 percent (192 votes)

I'm not sure sure – 4 percent (8 votes)

Elston was suspended from the Sept. 15 game against the No. 14 Texas Longhorns.

DM sports editor David Collier reported earlier that, "According to a release from the SEC, the hit was in violation of Rule 9-1-4 of the NCAA Football Rule book, which reads, 'No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, elbow or shoulder,' and Rule 9-1-3 which states, 'No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet.'"
