Ole Miss took on the Wildcats of Kentucky in an SEC Thursday night game and came out on top with a final of 2-0. The Rebels came into this game with a 9-6-1 overall record and a 3-3-1 in SEC play. Kentucky 0-7 in SEC play entering yesterday’s game.

Channing Foster kicked the game into gear with a goal in the 2nd minute. This was her fourth goal in six games, and her seventh this season. She scored again in the 53rd minute to double the Rebel lead to 2-0.
The 2-0 victory gives the Rebels four wins and 13 points in SEC play and gives freshman Morgan McAslan her first career shutout as a starting goalkeeper in her second career start.
“We knew we had everything to play for still,” head coach Matt Mott said. “We still needed points to get to (the SEC Tournament).”
Ole Miss came into this midweek game against the Wildcats needing a bounce-back result following a disappointing showing in Baton Rouge last Thursday. The 3-1 result against the LSU Tigers was heartbreaking after Ole Miss took an early lead in the first half through a 12th minute strike from Foster.
“Tonight was about us being us,” Mott said. “(It was) about us playing with passion, excitement and energy for the whole 90 minutes.”
Next up for the Rebels is the ever-important battle for the Magnolia Cup against Mississippi State at home this Sunday in their penultimate game. Ole Miss will host Vanderbilt in their season finale Thursday, Oct. 25.
