At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Oxford Police Department responded to a call to assist EMS in reference to a reported sledding accident at the Highland Square apartment complex located off of Molly Barr Road.
Upon arrival with EMS, officers learned that a male in his early twenties was injured in an accident, only involving himself, after sledding down a hillside and striking a street sign. Officers assisted EMS in transporting the victim to Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi, and upon arrival he was pronounced dead.
The name of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of family members. OPD is still investigating this accident. The department will update the public and news media as additional information becomes available.
