The Ole Miss softball team will face the UT Martin Skyhawks in a midweek matchup Tuesday  at 6 p.m. in Oxford.

Over the weekend, the Rebel squad clenched yet another SEC series win. The Rebels took both games against the Missouri Tigers in a doubleheader on Friday night. The highlight of the first game was a 2-run walk-off home run off the bat of Brittany Finney, who hit .600 on the day with 3 RBIs to add to her long ball.

In game two, the Rebel pitching dominated. Molly Jacobsen earned her second win of the day

and 13th of the season after throwing a complete game. Jacobsen surrendered only 5 hits

throughout the doubleheader.

Jacobsen’s pitching was matched with equally impressive defensive plays. Kylan Becker and

Kaylee Horton both had impressive grabs worthy of the highlight reel in the outfield, and

infielders Mikayla Allee and Jessica Puk both had incredible over-the-shoulder catches.

With the series win, the Rebels moved to 30-11 on the season and No. 4 in the SEC. The Rebels have never finished higher than eighth in the league standings.

Now, the Rebels look to extend their win streak with a victory over the Skyhawks before heading to Starkville for a series against Mississippi State.

After losing their last four games, the Skyhawks are currently 25-19 on the season and 7-7 in

the Ohio Valley Conference. The Rebels have won the last three matchups between the two

teams.

Despite their losing streak, the Skyhawks have some talented players, including relievers

Caitlin Karo and Erin Gallagher. In the two-game matchup against the Murray State Racers, Karo only allowed a single earned run in 6.0 innings of work. In game two, Gallagher struck out four batters in two shutout innings. The two Skyhawk pitchers have a combined ERA of 2.83.

Offensively, Gracyn McBride hit her sixth long ball of the season and the 22nd of her career,

which gave her sole possession of eighth place on the program’s home run leaderboard. At the plate, the Skyhawks are led by Paige Clark with a .422 batting average. Clark has recorded 54 hits and 29 runs so far this season, including 7 extra-base knocks.

The Rebels continue to climb in the rankings as they enter the homestretch of the regular season. After their trip to Starkville, they’ll return to Oxford for a midweek game against Southern Miss. The Rebels conclude their SEC slate with weekend series at home against Tennessee and on the road against Georgia.

Tonight’s game at the Ole Miss Softball Complex will start at 6 p.m.
