SEC Football Power Poll

Posted on Nov 13 2013 - 8:34am by David Collier

In this week’s installment, The Daily Mississippian’s sports editor David Collier will rank the 14 Southeastern Conference teams. Opponents, game times and television networks are also included for each team.

1. Alabama (9-0, 6-0 SEC)

Nick Saban and co. once again prove their worth in a tough game. Things are setting up nicely for the Iron Bowl.

This week: at Mississippi State (4-5, 1-4 SEC), 6:45 p.m., ESPN

2. Auburn (9-1, 5-1 SEC)

The Tigers better not sleep on Georgia this weekend or that Iron Bowl battle will lose some luster.

This week: Georgia (6-3, 4-2 SEC), 2:30 p.m., CBS

3. South Carolina (7-2, 5-2 SEC)

The Gamecocks somehow still have a shot at the SEC East crown, and they won’t blow it this weekend.

This week: Florida (4-5, 3-4 SEC), 6 p.m., ESPN2

4. Missouri (9-1, 5-1 SEC)

The Tigers are playing well but have two tough tests left at Ole Miss and at home against Texas A&M.

This week: BYE

5. Georgia (6-3, 4-2 SEC)

The Bulldogs have dealt with a lot of injuries this year, and I think they knock off Auburn Saturday.

This week: at Auburn (9-1, 5-1 SEC), 2:30 p.m., CBS

6. Texas A&M (8-2, 4-2 SEC)

Johnny Football has played his last game in College Station, but he has two more chances on the big stage.

This week: BYE

7. Ole Miss (6-3, 3-3 SEC)

The Rebels won their third straight, and Ole Miss is looking to improve its bowl standing from here on out.

This week: Troy (5-5, 3-3 Sun Belt), 11 a.m., ESPNU

8. LSU (7-3, 3-3 SEC)

The Tigers played tough, but a rough second half did them in at Alabama. Still plenty to play for, though.

This week: BYE

9. Vanderbilt (5-4, 2-4 SEC)

The Commodores won at Florida. Again, Vanderbilt won AT Florida. Another solid year for James Franklin.

This week: Kentucky (2-7, 0-5 SEC), 11:21 a.m., SEC TV

10. Florida (4-5, 3-4 SEC)

Will Muschamp’s hot seat keeps getting hotter. Can the Gators somehow make a bowl game? Probably not.

This week: at South Carolina (7-2, 5-2 SEC), 6 p.m., ESPN2

11. Tennessee (4-6, 1-5 SEC)

It’s been an up and down first year for Butch Jones and the Volunteers. A bowl game isn’t out of reach, though.

This week: BYE

12. Mississippi State (4-5, 1-4 SEC)

The Bulldogs’ losing streak against ranked teams continues and isn’t likely to end on Saturday.

This week: Alabama (9-0, 6-0 SEC), 6:45 p.m., ESPN

13. Arkansas (3-7, 0-6 SEC)

The Razorbacks played tough and could end their seven-game losing streak come Nov. 23.

This week: BYE

14. Kentucky (2-7, 0-5 SEC)

At this point, Mark Stoops would just like to get to the offseason and hit the recruiting trail.

This week: at Vanderbilt (5-4, 2-4 SEC), 11:21 a.m., SEC TV
