Chickfila Peach Bowl football

Monday

Auburn

Who’s speaking: Head coach Gus Malzahn, junior quarterback Jeremy Johnson, senior defensive back Jonathan Jones, and senior linebacker Kris Frost.

Prediction: Expect a lot of talk about new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, who is expected to give the Tigers a big boost in recruiting and fix their defensive woes.  The other big topic should be Jeremy Johnson becoming the new starting quarterback.

Florida

Who’s speaking: Head coach Jim McElwain, senior defensive end Jonathan Bullard, sophomore wide receiver Brandon Powell, and junior defensive back Vernon Hargreaves III.

Prediction: There will be a lot of talk about new head coach Jim McElwain and how he plans to change the team, and about the most recent recruiting class the Gators have secured.

Vanderbilt

Who’s speaking: Head coach Derrick Mason, sophomore running back Ralph Webb, sophomore linebacker Nigel Bowden and senior center Spencer Pulley.

Prediction: After a 3-9 season last year, Mason will be acting as his own defensive coordinator. He has brought in offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig from Wisconsin to run the offense.  There should be a good number of questions about how this will affect the team and what changes will be made.

Tuesday

South Carolina

Who’s speaking: Head coach Steve Spurrier, junior kicker Elliott Fry, junior receiver Pharoh Cooper, and junior linebacker Skai Moore.

Prediction: Plenty of talk about what quarterback will step up to replace record-breaking quarterback Dylan Thompson, and how the Gamecocks can bounce back after a disappointing season last year.

Texas A&M

Who’s speaking: Head coach Kevin Sumlin, senior center Mike Matthews, junior offensive tackle Germain Ifedi and senior defensive lineman Julien Obioha.

Prediction: Expect a lot of questions about new defensive coordinator John Chavis and how he plans to change a defense that was one of the worst in the SEC last season.

Mississippi State

Who’s speaking: Head coach Dan Mullen, senior quarterback Dak Prescott, senior defensive back Taveze Calhoun and senior defensive back Ryan Brown.

Prediction: Plenty of talk about Prescott, how to replace running back Josh Robinson and several starters on the offensive line, and how to improve the defensive secondary.

Tennessee

Who’s speaking: Head coach Butch Jones, junior quarterback Joshua Dobbs, senior linebacker Curt Maggitt, and junior defensive back Cameron Sutton.

Prediction: The growth of Dobbs, Sutton and running back Jalen Hurd should be a hot topic for the press conference, as well as discussion on changes to the defense.

Wednesday

Alabama

Who’s speaking: Head coach Nick Saban, senior linebacker Reggie Ragland, senior running back Kenyan Drake, and senior offensive lineman Ryan Kelly.

Prediction: Much of the conference should be centered on who the new starting quarterback will be and how the Tide can replace 16 seniors, seven of whom were drafted into the NFL.

Kentucky

Who’s speaking: Head coach Mark Stoops, senior defensive tackle Melvin Lewis, senior offensive tackle Jordan Swindle and senior safety A.J. Stamps.

Prediction: Kentucky hired Shannon Dawson as the new offensive coordinator for the program, so expect plenty of questions about that addition and junior quarterback Patrick Towles.

Missouri

Who’s speaking: Head coach Gary Pinkel, senior defensive back Kenya Dennis, junior quarterback Maty Mauk and senior center Evan Boehm.

Prediction: Mizzou will have a new defensive coordinator, Barry Odom, this season, which should generate plenty of discussion. There should be some questions about a receiving core that’s looking thin for the upcoming season.

Arkansas

Who’s speaking: Head coach Bret Bielema, senior running back Jonathan Williams, senior quarterback Brandon Allen and senior receiver Keon Hatcher.

Prediction: Arkansas also had a coordinator change, with Dan Enos taking over the offense, which should lead to some questions about his affect on the offense in addition to some questions about the Razorbacks stellar run game.

Thursday

Georgia

Who’s speaking: Head coach Mark Richt, senior receiver Malcolm Mitchell, senior offensive tackle John Theus and senior linebacker Jordan Jenkins.

Prediction: Georgia is in the middle of a quarterback competition, so many questions are expected to revolve around that and possibly about running back Nick Chubb’s potential Heisman candidacy.

Ole Miss

Who’s speaking: Head coach Hugh Freeze, junior tight end Evan Engram, senior safety Mike Hilton and senior linebacker C.J. Johnson.

Prediction: The two biggest stories will be on the quarterback race and offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil, who is currently undergoing an NCAA investigation, with some questions about Hilton and Johnson’s position changes as well.

LSU

Who’s speaking: Head coach Les Miles, sophomore running back Leonard Fournette, senior offensive tackle Vadal Alexander and junior linebacker Kendell Beckwith.

Prediction: LSU lost defensive coordinator John Chavis to Texas A&M and hired Kevin Steele as his replacement, which should be a big topic in the press conference, along with the recent legal troubles of some LSU players and the competition at quarterback.
