The Wild Feathers is a band that blends rock ‘n’ roll, folk, country and blues to create a sound that is raw but clean and crisp at the same time.
While this blending of genres is not a new movement in the music world, The Wild Feathers put a unique twist on it with great success.
The band spins the genres into a “roaring web of warm, cosmic melodies with vintage roots and modern tones,” according to Nashville Music Guide’s website.
Its songs combine the four unique voices and instrumental precision of Ricky Young, Joel King, Taylor Burns and Preston Wimberly.
Ricky Young, guitarist and singer in the band, said all the members came from rich musical backgrounds.
“We had an idea of multiple singers and writers for the band,” Young said.

“We are all heavily influenced by the Laurel Canyon sound and classic country music.”
The band claims that Nashville helped it find a sound and direction.
“Nashville had so much to do with our sound because there is so much great music coming out of it,” Young said.

“It has all kinds of different things going on musically, so there is plenty of variety to be inspired from.”
Young said the early 1970s in Austin also had a lot to do with the band’s sound.
“The connection between Austin and Nashville is something that we pull from,” he said.
The songwriting process was aided by members’ past experiences with fronting their own musical projects.
“It’s a lot more fun because we love each other’s songs and have a mutual respect for one another,” Young said.
The band is in the middle of its Southern winter tour, showcasing songs from its upcoming debut album.
New projects and tours are already in the works, and fans in different regions of the country can catch the band in the near future.
“We are heading out with Ryan Bingham in May,” Young said.

“We’ll be playing all the way up to the Sasquatch Festival in Washington. We cannot wait.”
The music video for the band’s first single, “Backwoods Company,” recently premiered on Filter Magazine’s website, garnering an impressive amount of views.
The Wild Feathers will perform at Proud Larry’s tonight at 9 p.m. and on March 1 and 8 at 9 p.m.
