Oxford firefighters extinguish hot spots after a fire under the south endzone of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Thursday night.

The Oxford Fire Department responded to a fire under the south endzone of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Thursday at 8:11 p.m. The fire occurred under the south endzone seats in a food preparation area and was extiguished before the fire department arrived, according to chatter on the police scanner.
The affected area is secured on game days, and fans would not normally have access to the area. Firefighters sprayed water to ensure the fire was completely extinguished. The scene was cleared in about half an hour.
