Oxford residents cast their ballots on Tuesday for House and Senate races, as well as local races in the midterm elections. A total of 16,517 votes were cast in Lafayette County on Election Day, representing 53.56 percent of registered voters in the county. Mississippi voters re-elected incumbent U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker in the regularly scheduled Senate election, and sent former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy and U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith to a run-off in the special Senate election.
