OXFORD, Miss. – After 12 years of guiding the Ole Miss volleyball team, head coach Joe Getzin will not be retained for the 2014 season, Director of Athletics Ross Bjork announced Monday.

“We appreciate the leadership that Joe has provided to our program during his 12 years,” said Lynnette Johnson, Ole Miss Executive Associate A.D. “Joe is a good man, and we wish him and his family all the best.”

The Rebels posted a 14-17 mark this season, including a 4-14 mark in Southeastern Conference play. It marked the program’s third straight losing season.

“I want to thank the administration, both past and present, for the opportunity to lead this program,” Getzin said. “I’m proud of the success we experienced in our time here. I believe we are leaving this program in a great position, and I’m certain they will be successful for many years to come.”

Getzin came to Ole Miss in January 2002 and guided the program to its first three NCAA Tournament appearances in 2006, 2007 and 2010. Twice named SEC Coach of the Year, Getzin recorded a 159-199 mark with the Rebels and was 80-142 in conference play.

“Our goals are to be much more competitive in the sport of volleyball, and a national search will begin immediately,” Johnson said.
