Ole Miss hauls in another solid recruiting class

The 2014 National Signing Day culminated this afternoon after 27 high school and junior college football players signed their National Letters of Intent to play for The University of Mississippi starting next season. Head football coach Hugh Freeze addressed members of the media Wednesday after the signee list was completed.

“(I’m) thrilled with our class and the job that our coaches did to build relationships with the prospects and their families and significant others in their circles,” Freeze said. “It’s definitely a grind and a challenge. We set out a goal to capture our state and the guys in it first, and then identify positions of need. I think we were able to accomplish both of those things.”

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day for the Rebels was the signing of Holmes Community College (Miss.) defensive back Tee Shepard from Fresno, Calif., who verbally committed to in-state rival Mississippi State just two days ago. In addition to snatching Shepard from the Bulldogs, Ole Miss hauled in seven of the top ten players in the state of Mississippi, according to ESPN’s list of recruits.
