After three midweek home wins for Ole Miss softball, the Rebels will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, this weekend for their final road series of the year.

Ole Miss is looking to continue its seven-game winning streak against No. 16 Arkansas and improve upon its 5-13 conference record.

The Razorbacks, who are ranked No. 16 in the NFCA and have a 9-9 record in SEC play, are coming off a series loss against Auburn. When Auburn and Ole Miss played each other earlier this season, the Rebels were ultimately defeated in the series, but did pull out a 3-2 win in the final game.

Despite losses in conference play, Ole Miss has been successful these past few outings and is looking to build on that momentum going into this weekend. Ole Miss racked up a total of 36 points over the past week, a double-header against Alcorn State and one game against UT Martin. The Rebels racked up 14 runs in two of the games and eight in the other.

On Wednesday night the Rebels smashed five home runs to contribute to the 14 runs throughout the game, which broke the school’s single game home run record. Throughout the game Ole Miss notched 17 hits, including hitting back-to-back-to-back home runs which was also a first for the Rebels in school-history.

This will be the Rebels’ and the Razorbacks’ 60th all-time meeting. The Razorbacks have a slight advantage in the all-time series record with 31 wins to the Rebels’ 28.

Even though they’re going up against a ranked Arkansas team, Ole Miss has some key players who will hopefully be able to perform to the caliber they’ve proved they can play at and can pull out a win against Arkansas.

One of the players having a notable season is senior Elantra Cox. Cox registered four hits in the last game against UT Martin for the first time this season and scored three runs in the same game for the third straight game.

Freshman Abbey Latham also proved her worth Wednesday night with two home runs, becoming the second Rebel this season along with freshman Amanda Roth to have more than one home run in a game. Latham scored three runs throughout the night, setting her career high, and finished 2-3 with three RBIs.

Roth also registered three RBIs against the Seahawks and went 2-5 at the plate. With another homer in the books, Roth now leads the team with five homers on the year. Junior Brittany Finney and senior Alex Schneider were the other two Rebels to crank out home runs on Wednesday.

The Rebels will face the Razorbacks on Saturday at 3 p.m. followed by a game Sunday at 4 p.m. and finishing up with the final game on Monday at 6 p.m. After returning from Fayetteville, Ole Miss will only have four more regular season games.
