Mackenzie Hicks – Copy Chief

I love waking up early in the morning to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. My mom and I have done it every year, and it’s not Thanksgiving for me without getting to see the whole parade, followed by the National Dog Show in Philadelphia, of course.

Sarah Parrish – Managing editor/perpetual pessimist

My Thanksgiving breaks are always underscored by the dread of all the work I still have to complete, but I love when my family gets together for that one fantastic, worry-free meal. It’s escapism at its most delicious.

Dylan Rubino – Sports Editor

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is watching football on Thanksgiving Day, and my family playing our annual touch football game in the back yard. I know it’s such a sports editor answer to give, but it’s the truth. You put us together in one back yard for a football game, and madness will happen. It’s a tradition I look forward to every year in my family for Thanksgiving.

Clara Turnage – Lifestyles editor

My sisters and I always dreaded Thanksgiving. The days before we were always cleaning for the horde of cousins that would come over. When people finally arrived it was a relief. Now, in college, I am the family member coming home, and I couldn’t anticipate it more.

I go to my grandma’s house in Georgia with almost 30 of my cousin, aunts, and uncles – and it’s awesome. Even though we have so many people, she always bakes a cherry pie because it’s my favorite.

Alli Moore – Designer

Every Thanksgiving, my family gives thanks and eats a scrumptious feast before my mom and I plan our crusade for consumerism, where we race other people for highly discounted shoes, electronics and luggage.

Lacey Russell – Editor in Chief

I’ve spent 19 Thanksgivings at my grandparents’ house in north Mississippi. It’s an unspoken tradition for my grandmother to make her homemade red velvet cake. I’m truly convinced those three layers and the divine icing that binds them are the 8th and 9th wonders of the world.

Logan Kirkland – News Editor

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition includes watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade with my brothers and sisters and helping my mom cook dinner while we gossip and catch up with each other.

Sierra Mannie – Opinion Editor

The best part for me is experiencing the cross-generational party that throws down. The oldest person at home is at least seventy, and the youngest person isn’t even a year old yet. It feels like you’re being hugged by at least six actualized Punnett squares – I have a huge, awesome family.

Kristin Jackson – Social Media Editor

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is cooking cakes with my family and shopping on Black Friday.

Kylie McFadden – Assistant News Editor

I love going up to New Jersey to see my extended family since I only get to see them once a year.

Thomas Graning – Multimedia Editor

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is just being with my family. It’s a great day to relax and spend time together. There is no worrying about what has to be done. It’s just family and spending time focusing on being together.
