This week, I’m giving y’all something a little bit different than what I’ve previously shown you guys: old-school hip-hop. I’m talking about LL Cool J, Warren G, Tupac — the big hits. I’ll be honest: I used to be a snob who turned up my nose to anything related to rap, R&B and hip-hop, but oh, what a fool I was. These tunes are classic and changed a generation of music. They’re loud, in-your-face beats put together by men and women who rose to stardom doing what they love. A lot of these songs I found through a great new Gimlet podcast called “Mogul: The Life and Death of Chris Lighty,” which you should definitely check out if you’ve got the time. This playlist is an hour and six minutes of bumping jams you need to hear. If not, you’re doing your ears a disservice. Until next week!
