Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts Holly Reynolds answered questions about late-night studying options on campus during exam week.
The Daily Mississippian: “Which buildings will be open 24 hours a day during exam week?”
Reynolds: “Lamar floors 1-4, Bishop Hall, Bryant main floor and second floor and Hume first floor.”
DM: “Which days are included in the exam week schedule?”
R: “It all starts tomorrow night – Friday night. Cobra Security will show up at the time that those buildings would normally be closed for the night. Security will be posted at the one entrance/exit door to each building that will be unlocked, and then there will be other security guards walking the floors.”
DM: “What advice do you have for students studying on campus late at night?”
R: First, please be aware of your surroundings and travel in groups if you are walking to and from these study spaces. We do have security in the buildings themselves, but be careful when walking around outside. Second, I don’t personally advocate late-night studying or pulling an “all-nighter.”
DM: “Do students need any form of ID to get into the buildings?”
R: “No. But, Cobra Security retains the right to ask for ID if the guard believes that the person entering a building is not a student there to study. These buildings are being opened for a specific purpose: more study spaces.”
