On Thursday April 23rd 2015, Oxford Police Officers arrested Anthony Hilliard (33) of Oxford, MS for Burglary of a commercial building. This was a result of a 2-year investigation into the burglary of Shipley’s. Through the investigation, OPD was able to identify suspects and witnesses that were able to give information on Hilliard and the burglary.  A warrant was issued in February 2015, after investigators were able to gather enough information on the burglary and Hilliard. Hilliard was taken for an initial appearance at Justice Court where his bond was set at $2,500.00.

On April 16, 2015, at approximately 10:38 a.m., UPD was dispatched to the parking area of a university office building after a report was filed detailing vandalism to a vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer observed a male subject sitting in front of the building. A worker informed the officer that she witnessed the male subject kick a parked vehicle causing a large dent in its door. The vehicle’s owner was contacted and informed of the situation. The subject was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center where he was charged with felony malicious mischief.
