Show up. That is the theme for Ole Miss Lacrosse this coming season. Show up for your team, for your university, and for your teammates. This year the lacrosse team is determined to make a difference in their program and have the best season possible.

George K. D. Hopkins, aka Coach Drit, describes the potential he sees in this 2016 team when he says, “we have a lot of lacrosse talent here and this program has never been this unified, we’re firing on all cylinders.” The team is hoping to utilize this endless potential with determination and teamwork that can only be described as a brotherhood. Coach Drit also expressed to his team the meaning of the word “mindfulness”. He describes how he wants his players to be conscious and present individuals when it comes to lacrosse and the time they dedicate to this team. These players are committed to have a victorious season both on and off the field.

The term adversity was also used to inspire this year’s players. Coach Drit told his team that he “expects us (the team) to handle adversity during games, better than any team we play.” Overcoming this adversity will help propel Ole Miss Lacrosse forward to become a stand out in the college lacrosse world.

The team has already committed to longer, more productive team practices as well as being a better host for traveling teams. They have also added a game to there schedule when they play Mississippi State in The Easter Egg Bowl on March 29th. The next couple of games will certainly set the tone for the rest of the lacrosse season and demonstrate just how much this program can achieve.

Coach Drit hopes to make this year historic with the personalities and talents that surround this team. He concluded his feelings about this season and his players with overwhelming enthusiasm by saying that this will be “a breakout season for Ole Miss Men’s Lacrosse, the Force and the Rebels awaken!” Their next home game is Saturday February 20th when they take on the Georgia State Panthers.
