Hey, everyone. Welcome back! I know we took last week off, but I’m really excited to share this week’s playlist with you.
It’s not so much a playlist as it is a full-length album. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack of a new movie called “American Folk,” and it’s so good I had to share it. As you can tell from most of my previous playlists, I love folk music. It’s America’s earliest music, and it’s the most beautiful, thought-provoking genre there is. Unfortunately, I have not seen the film yet, as it didn’t play anywhere nearby, but I’m eager to hopefully soon sit down and watch it.
The description says it was filmed over 3,500 miles in 14 states, telling the story of two folk musicians who meet after their plane is grounded in the midst of the 9/11 attacks. They then rent a car together to get back to New York and play music along the way. The film stars Joe Purdy and Amber Rubarth, who sing the majority of this incredible soundtrack. Check it out, and then go see the movie. Next week, we’ll be featuring female artists in celebration of Women’s History Month.
