Tonight, Thacker Mountain Radio Hour is partnering with Visit Mississippi and Visit Oxford for the statewide Americana in Mississippi concert series. The free concert will be at The Lyric Theater from 6 to 7 p.m.

Hosted by Jim Dees and Thacker Mountain’s house band, this week’s show will feature live music by the Jericho Road Show and alt-country band Lucero. There will also be a literature reading by author Randy Pierce.

The Americana in Mississippi Tour celebrates the state’s deep-running blues, country, gospel and rock ‘n’ roll roots. The tour will make 16 stops across the state. Each show features a performance by a local band or musician, allowing for a true taste of each city’s musical flavor.

“This is a great opportunity for visitors who are interested in music to come and experience it for themselves,” Interim Director of Visit Mississippi Daron Wilson said in a press release. “We’ve come together to showcase the best of the best when it comes to Americana music.”

The Mississippi Museum of Art is also a partner of this week’s show. They will be parked outside of The Lyric, and individuals can record themselves telling a story as part of their Modern Mississippi Trail project.

“I love Thacker because it’s such a fun gathering that happens every week, yet it is always just a little different,” Thacker Mountain intern and Ole Miss student Alex Presley said. “You just show up and know you’re going to be entertained.”

The show will broadcast live on 92.1 and www.myrebelradio.com. Tickets to Lucero’s full concert after Thacker at the Lyric Oxford can be purchased here. To learn more about the Americana in Mississippi Music Tour, see www.visitmississippi.org/americana.
