Mr. Ole Miss himself joins The DM sports staff to hit us with some college football knowledge
TCU @ No. 17 Baylor
Cole Putman: TCU. Horned Frogs will rise again.
Cody Thomason: Baylor took their first loss last week against Texas, and I think they go down again this week. TCU has dropped off since the beginning of the year, but I think the Horned Frogs still have the ability to jump out to a quick lead and keep it.
Brian Scott Rippee: TCU has had a rough go of it this year through a pretty watered down Big 12. It doesn’t get any better this week. Baylor wins.
No. 1 Alabama @ No. 13 LSU
CP: Hopefully neither, but I’ll go with Alabama.
CT: Fournette has finally returned to Heisman form, and Ed Orgeron has looked pretty solid as the interim head coach. That being said, I think Nick Saban out-coaches him, and the Tide will find a way to slow down Leonard Fournette.
BSR: I respect the hell out of the fire Ed Orgeron has lit under this LSU team. It looked like an angry, hungry team when I saw them in Baton Rouge a couple of weeks ago. This will be a dog fight, but I think Alabama wins by 10.
No. 10 Nebraska @ No. 6 Ohio State
CP: Nebraska. Creamed corn is my favorite veggie at Ajax. ‘Huskers all the way.
CT: Nebraska has been a pleasant surprise for the Big Ten conference this year, with their only loss coming at the hands of a very quality Wisconsin team. Ohio State dropped a game they should’ve won against Penn State a few weeks ago, but they’re still one of the top teams in the nation and should win here.
BSR: If Ohio State wins out, it is in the playoff. Urban Meyer isn’t losing this one.
Georgia @ Kentucky
CP: Georgia. The only Dawgs I’m rooting for this close to the Egg Bowl.
CT: Somehow, Kentucky is second in the SEC East right now. Maybe it’s bias from watching Kentucky struggle for so many years, but I have to think Georgia will get back on track and win this game. I think Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will get the Bulldogs’ running game back on track and win a close game.
BSR: So in the latest episode of College Football Getting Weird, Kentucky has a puncher’s chance of winning the SEC as Florida has to go on the road at Arkansas and LSU. I’m all about it getting weirder this week. Kentucky wins, and everyone continues to wonder if anyone actually wants to win the SEC East.
No. 11 Florida @ Arkansas
CP: Bacon for breakfast on Sunday morning. Florida.
CT: I’m not sure if Florida is actually good or if the SEC East is just that weak. Meanwhile, Arkansas is much better than their record suggests, with their only losses coming to some of the top teams in the conference. I’m betting on the Razorbacks here.
BSR: I’m all about this seemingly ridiculous Kentucky narrative, and Arkansas is tough at home. Hogs win.
Texas A&M @ Mississippi State
CP: Texas A&M. Again, not rooting for Mississippi State.
CT: The Aggies’ lone loss is to Alabama, and I don’t think they’ll lose another regular season game this season. With their talent at wide receiver, they should easily go through the Bulldogs’ secondary and put up a lot of points in their victory.
BSR: Mississippi State is about to run into the teeth of its schedule to end the season. Texas A&M wins comfortably, but I wouldn’t be surprised at all too see the Bulldogs keep it close for at least a little while.
Georgia Southern @ Ole Miss
CP: Ole Miss. Honestly, the only one I have any knowledge on. Rebs.
CT: Georgia Southern is great for a small school, but if the Rebels blow this game, the season is pretty much at rock bottom. The Rebels need this game to get some players healthy and work on their defense, and they should have the talent to win this game by a sizable margin.
BSR: Just like we all thought, Ole Miss is playing a must-win game against Georgia Southern to fight for bowl eligibility in November, right? Well, the Rebels can exhale for a week at least. Ole Miss 48, GS 24.
