The Vegabonds play The Lyric tonight

With a name based off the definition of ‘vagabond’  - meaning rambler, traveler or gypsy – and a sound best described as ‘new south rock’, The Vegabonds’ blend of classic and southern rock boasts a range of influences such as Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers, Kings of Leon and Chris Stapleton.

Their eclectic sound will make its way to The Lyric tonight as a part of their “What We’re Made Of” tour, spanning the southeast and showcasing music from their album of the same name.

Having played in Oxford many times before, the band is looking forward to having that opportunity once again and experiencing the great connection they’ve established with everyone in town.

“We are excited about the rowdy crowd we always get when we come to Oxford,” lead singer Daniel Allen said. “It makes the show fun for us when we can get a great response from the people, and it always happens in Oxford! We can’t wait to rock The Lyric and jam with our buddies The Delta Saints and Ebenezer Goodman.”

And for the opening acts – Nashville-based The Delta Saints and Ebenezer Goodman’s crew comprised of six Ole Miss Rebels– the excitement of all three bands to share the stage together is paralleled.

“This will be our first show of the year, so I’m just excited about getting back on the road and playing some rock ’n’ roll,” frontman of The Delta Saints Ben Ringel said. “We’ve been at home writing a new record for these first couple of months, so getting out and breaking a sweat will be nice!”

Though it initially proved difficult to catch onto the music scene of Oxford for the University students of the band Ebenezer Goodman, countless free philanthropy shows and fundraiser nights led to music venues catching wind of the band, and their booking exponentially increased.

Their calendar is now full of shows, including tonight’s show at the Lyric.

“We’re extremely excited about playing at The Lyric again,” vocalist and keys player Conner Ball said. “It is one of our favorite venues to perform at in Oxford, and we’re glad we get to share the stage with The Vegabonds again.”

Fellow band member and lead vocalist Ty Higginbotham is pumped about fans and producers experiencing the show.

“We’re performing most of our original material so we can’t wait to see the fans’ reaction,” he said. “Possibly the most exciting part is that a few local music producers are coming to see us.”

With a lineup that will please any rock ‘n’ roll enthusiast, the event is sure to not disappoint.

“Folks can expect high energy shows that take you on a journey throughout our album,” said Allen of The Vegabonds. “In our opinion it’s our greatest record we have released, and we are so excited to put it in the hands of our listeners and enjoy the songs and shows together.”
