Just over nine out of ten University of Mississippi graduates are employed, according to the last ten years of data from the U.S. Department of Education compiled in a new ranking from Zippia.com. The university has the highest rate of graduate employment in the state.

The data shows that after 10 years, 91.42% of UM graduates are still employed. The top performing university in the U.S., Quinnipiac University, has a graduate employment rate of 96.1%.

The University of Mississippi Career Center offers various services to students and alumni to help them find employment such as resume and cover letter critiques and mock interviews.

Career Center services are available to students and alumni for life. Career Advisor Garrett Fischer said that these services are crucial for students to compete in the job market. The Career Center also offers Handshake accounts, a career networking service similar to LinkedIn, to all students.

“The Career Center is not only to help students get a job while they’re in college, but it’s to help them compete in the global market when they leave,” Fischer said.

The ranking takes into account 10 years of data on job placement rates by using the Department of Education’s “College Scorecard,” which is designed to help the public see “how well different schools are serving their students.”

The scorecard also reported that 10 years after graduating, the median salary of UM students that received financial aid was $42,700.

This is the third year Zippia has compiled the ranking, and Ole Miss has maintained the top ranking in the state all three years.
