Oxford vigils honor plane crash victims

Members of the community and local churches organized a memorial for the six Oxford plane crash victims for 6 tonight in the Grove.

A prayer service organized by family friends will be held at Rafters Bar and Grill at 6 p.m, as well.

The couples – Dr. Jason and Dr. Lea Farese, Dr. Austin and Angie Poole, and Dr. Michael and Kim Perry – died in a plane crash Sunday morning in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. They were returning after attending a dental continuing education conference in Florida. The couples are survived by 11 children total; three Farese children, three Perry children and five Poole children.

Cox Orthodontics, of Hernando, posted their condolences for families of the deceased on Facebook that echoes many of their colleagues’ sentiments.

“Please join us in praying for the children and families of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Perry, Drs. Jason and Lea Farese, and Dr. and Mrs. Austin Poole,” the post read. “These were some great people in our North Mississippi dental community who have touched the lives of many. We send our love and prayers to their children, family, and loved ones.”

Another dental practice on the coast posted a shared a similar post.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleges,” posted Gulf Coast Dental Care, of Gulfport. “Nothing can prepare anyone for such a tragic loss; our thoughts and prayers are with the children and the families left behind following this tragic accident.”

Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced at this time.
