Ole Miss’ Women’s basketball team opened the season with a 97-61 victory over Mississippi Valley State University.
The Rebels were led by Sophomore Shandricka Sessom who totaled 24 points and six rebounds. Sessom also three assists and was four of five from the free throw line.
The Rebels also saw big contributions from Erika Sisk and Kelsey Briggs who scored 15 and 12 points respectively.
The Rebels were able to pull away in the third and fourth period. After trailing and multiple points during the first half of the game, the Rebels outscored the Delta Devils 63-32 in the second half.
The Rebels recorded nine made three point shots, but took 32 three point shots. The Rebels outrebounded the Delta Devils by a margin of 55-51.
Ole Miss will get back into action this Sunday against UL-Lafayette at 7 p.m.
